How We Work

From payment to Belastingdienst approval - here's exactly how your 30% ruling application works, step by step.

Free Eligibility Check

~10 minutes

Fill in our intake form: name, employer, salary, previous country, education, and a few eligibility-specific questions. Takes about 10 minutes. We review your situation and email you within 24 hours with the assessment. No payment at this stage.

No cure, no pay: if the Belastingdienst rejects your application, we refund our fee in full.

Confirmation & Payment

~5 minutes

After we confirm you're eligible, you pay via Stripe (€100 incl. VAT). You then get a short follow-up form (about 5 minutes) for the remaining fields the Belastingdienst needs that weren't in the intake: employer address, payroll tax number, and a few document uploads.

Have these ready:

  • Employment contract (start date, salary, signed date)
  • Employer's payroll tax number (ask HR)
  • Your previous address abroad
  • Dates of any previous stays in the Netherlands
  • Your arrival date in the Netherlands

Within 48 hours

We generate the official "Verzoek loonheffingen Expatregeling" form pre-filled with your details. We verify your data against the 2026 salary thresholds and distance requirements.

Receive Your Package by Email

Within 48 hours of completing the form

We email your complete application package to you. Everything is ready - just print, sign, and send. The employer instruction letter explains to your employer exactly what they need to do.

No cure, no pay: we flag any eligibility issue before sending your package, and if the Belastingdienst rejects your application, we refund your fee in full.

Sign & Submit

10 minutes + postage

Print the form, sign it yourself, and have your employer sign. Then mail the complete package to the Belastingdienst. Our submission guide includes the exact address and a pre-submission checklist.

Submission address:

Belastingdienst, Postbus 2865, 6401 DJ Heerlen. We recommend sending by registered mail (aangetekend) for proof of delivery.

Deadline: Submit within 4 months of your start date for retroactive benefits.

Approval & Payroll Adjustment

4-12 weeks

The Belastingdienst processes your application and sends a written decision. Once approved, share the approval letter with your employer's payroll department. They'll start applying the 30% tax-free allowance to your salary.
